BASIC PURPOSE/JOB BRIEF
- The Head Tea Master is responsible for the strategic tea program, assisting the Beverage Director in coordinating all phases of teas in restaurant/outlets service operations in the Hotel; coordinate these activities on a daily basis; assist in program planning and quality control. Maintain the services and reputation of the Hotel and act as a management representative.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, Tea Master should be able to provide The Perfect Cup of Tea.
- Extensive knowledge about the difference between the various types of tea leaves & varietals which are used in tea preparation.
- In addition, a Tea Master is a "people person" who wants to give customers a great tea experience so they come back again and again.
- A Tea Master Should know about teas – Provincial Chinese Teas & its properties in particular.
- Skill & confident working the Tea counter.
- A good team player – "works well with others."
- A Tea Master is a multi-task expert, taking care of numerous things in the proper order with the goal of providing supreme customer service and exceptional tea drinks.
- Ability to multi-tasked requires the Tea Master to think of what needs to be done at the particular moment and constantly prioritize items for the best efficiency.
- The ability to multi-task requires that you do more than just work fast, and it also does not include being hyper-active or extra speedy without purpose.
- An experienced Tea Master knows that the customer always comes first because your whole purpose is to give them a wonderfully positive experience in your tea preparations.
- Tea Master Knowledge about the World's Finest Chinese Teas- taste profiles and how the tea leaves are processed, perhaps where they are grown and their most redeeming qualities.
- Keep a Neat Workplace and a Neat Appearance
- Cleanliness is clearly next to godliness when it comes to being a Tea Master. Not only must you keep your brewing equipment clean and your work area spotless, you must also maintain a neat physical appearance.
- Creates a positive team atmosphere among Team Members.
- Provides feedback and coaching to the Team regularly.
- Understands building capability through Cross training.
- Treats all Team Members fairly, with respect.
- Sets high standards for appropriate team behavior on shift.
- Ensures new products are executed properly following roll-out.

- Coaches team on how to exceed Guest expectations.

- Highly skilled individual who aids diners in selecting a tea that perfectly blends with their meal, special understanding of the teas composition, its making and how it could affect a particular dish if not paired correctly.
- Intellectual, with prudent skills to deal with customers and talk to them about what is best for them.
- Works in tandem with the culinary team and is also available on the floor of the restaurant to guide his patrons.
- Involves procuring teas, storing it, stock rotation and providing excellent service to his patrons.
- It is essential for him/her to possess knowledge of preparing tea.
- Be able to enhance the drinking experience of the diners.
- Select and order teas that best fit and balance the menu.
- Required to have an extensive knowledge of tea varieties and proper used.
- Compelled to develop and undertake training courses, and also conduct sessions at the local restaurants.
- Having precise knowledge of tea storage.
- Managing the stock-taking of the teas.
- Advising diners on how to drink/enjoy tea.
- Describing the taste and aroma to the diners.
- Training the restaurant staff in his area of expertise.
- He/she must possess in-depth information of teas along with its source.
- Responsible for the teas inventory of the outlet.
- Ensures new products are executed properly following roll-out.
- Is capable of handling irate customers with a friendly/calm attitude.
- Ensures product quality and great service.
- Shows enthusiasm about guest within the restaurant.
- Is flexible in dealing with changes/problems (e.g., being short staffed).
- Has effectively forecasted restaurant needs.
- Shifts priorities and goals as work demands change.
- Prioritizes tasks effectively to ensure most important tasks are completed on time.
- Taking Ownership of issues or tasks and also give detail update of the Teas Director.
- Seeks, listens and responds to Guest feedback.
- Does not blame others; takes accountability for problems.
- Creates a positive team atmosphere among Team Members.
- Treats all Team Members fairly, with respect.
- Sets high standards for appropriate team behavior on shift.
- Handle guest complaints in restaurants.
- Meet with sales representatives to order supplies such as tableware, brewing utensils, and cleaning items.
- Arrange for maintenance and repair of equipment and other services.
- Total receipts and balance against sales, deposit receipts, and lock facility at end of day.
- Participation towards overall Hotel Maintenance and cleanliness.
- Achieving service quality that exceeds expectations.
- Overall maintenance of the operation at a level in keeping with the standards prescribed.
- Report any deficiencies in equipment and facilities.
- Personal development and growth.
- Teamwork-Relations with co-workers and management.
- All other duties assigned by Director of Beverage.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- College education or higher
- Previous experience in similar role or 8-10 years tea ops
- Excellent Tea knowledge
- Excellent verbal communication in English and Mandarin/Cantonese
- Positive attitude
- Professional appearance
- Ability to function well as part of a team
- Able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Able to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers
