What is the job?

The Accounting Associate 2 is responsible for managing full-cycle accounts payable (AP) processes and performing general accounting activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timeliness of financial transactions. The role includes invoice processing, vendor communication, reconciliations, and support for month-end and year-end close activities. This position works independently under established accounting policies and plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and supporting audit and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and code invoices in payable and financial systems, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals.
  • Review, prepare, and process employee expense reports and ACH reimbursements per company policy.
  • Manage vendor maintenance, including setup, W-9 collection, and IRS verification.
  • Generate payments (checks/ACH) and reconcile AP aging reports.
  • Prepare and distribute 1099 forms, maintain records, and assist with IRS filing.
  • Support AP system implementations, resolve vendor/internal issues, and assist with ad-hoc projects.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of accounts payable experience and at least 1 year in general accounting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with accounting/ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Strong knowledge of AP processes, accounting principles, and financial controls.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines in fast-paced, high-volume settings.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical, reconciliation, and data integrity skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
