An Accounting Assistant supports an accounting department by handling routine clerical and bookkeeping tasks, such as data entry, processing invoices and payments, reconciling accounts, and maintaining financial records. Key duties include assisting with accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and financial reporting under the guidance of a senior accountant. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency with accounting software and Excel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate financial records and ledgers.
  • Data Entry: Enter financial transactions, invoices, and other data into accounting software.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process vendor invoices, track payments, and handle customer billing.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
  • Payroll Assistance: Support payroll processing by verifying hours, deductions, and employee information.
  • Financial Reports: Assist in preparing basic financial reports, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Filing and Documentation: Organize and file financial documents, both digitally and physically.
  • Compliance and Audits: Help ensure compliance with financial policies and assist with audits.
  • Communication: Interact with vendors, clients, and other departments to resolve discrepancies and gather information.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is often preferred.
  • Atleast 2 years experience in general accounting field
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP).
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and multitask.
