Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced 
Head of Finance
 to build and lead the finance function for our growing veterinary tech startup. This is a strategic and hands-on role for someone who can set up robust financial systems from scratch, ensure compliance across international entities, and provide insights to guide business decisions. The Head of Finance will oversee all aspects of financial management from modeling and budgeting to reporting and process implementation for both our U.S. parent company and Philippine subsidiary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Modeling & Planning:
     Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models, budgets, and forecasts to guide the companys growth. Continuously update the financial model for our veterinary tech business to inform fundraising, investments, and strategic planning.
  • Reporting & Compliance:
     Prepare, analyze, and 
    submit accurate financial reports
     for multiple entities including our Delaware C-Corp (US parent) and our Philippine SEC-registered company. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (GAAP/IFRS) and regulatory requirements in both jurisdictions. This includes managing consolidation of accounts and timely filing of tax returns, financial statements, and regulatory reports.
  • Financial Systems & Processes:
     
    Design and implement financial systems and processes
     from the ground up. Establish strong controls and procedures for cash flow management, expense tracking, disbursements, revenue recognition, and inventory accounting. Build a streamlined finance operations workflow that can scale as we grow.
  • Tools & Technology:
     Oversee the use of accounting and ERP tools. Manage our 
    QuickBooks
     accounting for the U.S. entity and implement an enterprise system (such as 
    Britana ERP
     or similar) for the Philippine entity's accounting, inventory, and operations. Ensure these systems are effectively utilized for bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, and financial reporting.
  • Budgeting & Cost Management:
     Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor budget vs. actuals. Implement cost control measures and optimize spend across the organization. Provide department heads with guidance on managing budgets and financial goals.
  • Strategic Financial Insight:
     Provide 
    strategic advice
     to the CEO and leadership team on financial matters. Analyze financial data to generate insights on business performance, unit economics, and ROI of initiatives. Support fundraising activities with financial projections and due diligence preparation.
  • Compliance & Audit:
     Ensure strong compliance with all finance-related obligations. Coordinate external audits, liaise with auditors and tax advisors in both the US and Philippines, and implement audit recommendations. Maintain proper documentation and controls to uphold the integrity of financial data.
  • Team Leadership:
     (As we grow) hire and mentor a small finance/accounting team or manage external accounting partners. Foster a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and business partnership within the finance function.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education:
     Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. CPA or CMA qualification is highly preferred. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience:
     
    Proven experience (5+ years)
     in finance/accounting roles, with at least a couple of years in a leadership or head of finance capacity. 
    Startup or high-growth company experience
     is strongly preferred, you have built financial processes from scratch or taken a company through rapid scaling.
  • Financial Modeling & Analysis:
     Exceptional financial modeling skills and experience in strategic planning. Comfortable building models for revenue projections, runway/cash burn, scenario analysis, etc., especially in a startup context (e.g., SaaS or tech startup models).
  • Reporting & Compliance Knowledge:
     Solid understanding of both U.S. and Philippine accounting principles and compliance. Experience preparing financial statements and management reports for multiple jurisdictions. Familiarity with US GAAP (for Delaware C-Corp reporting) and local Philippine financial reporting and tax regulations is required.
  • Systems & Tools:
     Hands-on experience implementing or managing financial systems/software. 
    Proficiency in QuickBooks
     (for US accounting) and experience with 
    ERP systems
     (such as Britana or similar platforms for accounting, inventory, and operations in the Philippines). Ability to evaluate and deploy new tools to improve financial workflow.
  • Process Improvement:
     Demonstrated ability to set up 
    financial controls and processes
     (accounts payable/receivable, expense management, treasury, inventory tracking, etc.). You have a process-oriented mindset and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analytical & Strategic Skills:
     Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to problem solving. Capable of translating financial data into actionable insights and recommendations for the leadership team. Experience in supporting fundraising (debt or equity financing) and investor relations by providing vital financial information is a plus.
  • Communication & Leadership:
     Excellent communication skills, able to clearly present financial information to non-financial stakeholders and executives. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to strategic decisions. 
    Leadership ability
     to eventually grow and manage a finance team; you are proactive, trustworthy, and can work independently in a startup environment.
  • Other:
     High proficiency in Excel and financial modeling tools. Familiarity with international banking, payroll, and compliance procedures. A passion for our mission (veterinary/pet health sector) and adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving startup culture.
