A production plant supervisor's duties include overseeing day-to-day operations, managing plant staff, and ensuring efficient and safe production of concrete or other materials. Key responsibilities include quality control, equipment maintenance, inventory management, production planning, and reporting. They also coordinate with other teams, suppliers, and customers to meet production targets and deadlines.

Operations and production

  • Directly manage the daily operations of the batching plant to ensure timely and accurate production.
  • Operate and monitor the batching plant through software to ensure all products meet quality specifications.
  • Coordinate with dispatch teams and drivers to ensure timely loading and delivery of materials.
  • Plan and schedule production runs to meet operational targets and deadlines.

Staff and team management

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant workers, including their training and scheduling.
  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a zero-accident environment.
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and ensure workers use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).

Quality control and maintenance

  • Perform and oversee quality control functions, such as taking material samples and conducting tests like slump and moisture checks.
  • Implement and recommend improvements to the production process to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Ensure equipment is clean, safe, and functioning properly by performing and scheduling maintenance.
  • Report any machine breakdowns promptly to the appropriate department.

Inventory and logistics

  • Monitor and manage the stock levels of raw materials like cement, aggregates, and admixtures.
  • Order materials from suppliers in coordination with the Materials Manager.
  • Ensure materials are stored correctly and manage any waste generated.

Reporting and communication

  • Prepare and submit production, safety, and other performance reports to management.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including attendance and hours worked.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, project managers, and customers to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.
