Role Summary:Verta Bioenergy is hiring a Country General Manager (GM) to lead the setup, commissioning, and operations of its biomass pelletization facility in the Philippines. This is a foundational leadership role that starts with hands-on construction and ramps up into full country operations, including team building, plant management, and local expansion.

Key Responsibilities1. Construction OversightManage contractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure plant is built to spec, on time, and on budget

Interpret and validate architectural, structural, and MEP plans

Ensure compliance with all local construction, safety, and environmental codes

Resolve site-level construction issues and lead technical decisions

Coordinate with permitting consultants for DENR, BFP, DOLE, and LGU approvals2. Commissioning & Ramp-UpOversee installation and commissioning of all process equipment: crusher, pelletizer, cyclone, conveyors, and HVACValidate material flow, production SOPs, and performance targets

Ensure safety training, electrical testing, and dry runs are documented and executed

Liaise with vendors and HQ to finalize plant startup3. Operational ManagementTransition into full Plant General Manager upon commissioning

Monitor production KPIs (throughput, moisture, yield, emissions, downtime)Oversee maintenance, quality control, and supply chain functions

Report regularly to HQ with updates on operations, costs, and risks4. Team BuildingBuild and lead a lean operations team — hiring production staff, maintenance leads, warehouse, and QC roles

Set operational SOPs, performance reviews, and training programs

Create a culture of safety, discipline, and ownership5. Country LeadershipAct as Verta Bioenergy's lead representative in the PhilippinesEngage with LGUs, clients, and regulatory bodies when required

Assist in scouting future sites, partners, and regional growth

Candidate ProfileMust-Have Qualifications:Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related field)Minimum 7 years of experience, including:At least 3 years managing industrial plant construction or operations

Team leadership in manufacturing or biomass/energy sector

Strong working knowledge of:Philippine construction regulations (DPWH, LGU, BFP, DOLE)Plant utilities (electrical systems, HVAC, fire safety, drainage)Operational metrics and plant performance tracking

Hands-on, decisive, and systems-driven

Preferred:Experience with biomass, agro-processing, or thermal conversion

Background in plant scale-up, commissioning, or P&L accountability

Fluency in Tagalog and EnglishCompensation:Competitive salary based on experience

Performance bonus tied to project delivery and plant uptime

Equity incentives are dependent on performance
