Production Supervisor

Job Summary:This role is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring optimal manpower allocation, achieving production targets, and maintaining high-quality standards. This role involves coordinating with various departments, monitoring production line performance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet organisational goals.
Scope and Responsibilities:
Production Operations Management
Oversee daily production activities to ensure that all production targets are met on time, within budget, and with minimal downtime.
Plan, execute, and revise production schedules as needed to respond to unexpected challenges, fluctuations in demand, or other operational changes.
Monitor and track production metrics, including output volume, cycle times, and efficiency, to identify areas where improvements can be made.
Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and organisational standards, actively reinforcing best practices on the production line.
Collaborate with the Production Manager to develop, implement, and review operational policies aimed at enhancing productivity and operational efficiency.
Leadership and People Management
Assign tasks and adjust manpower allocation daily to meet production requirements, ensuring optimal staffing and workload balance across shifts.
Lead and coach team members, setting clear performance expectations and providing regular feedback to encourage professional development.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork within the production team, encouraging employees to adhere to safety and quality protocols.
Conduct performance evaluations for team members, identify skill gaps, and coordinate training sessions to enhance team competencies.
Act as the point of contact for resolving team conflicts and addressing employee concerns, working with HR as necessary to support positive employee relations.
Project Management and Continuous Improvement
Identify and execute quality improvement projects aimed at reducing defects and increasing production quality.
Analyse root causes of production defects, develop corrective actions, and implement solutions to enhance product quality.
Manage projects related to process improvement and production efficiency, from planning to execution and evaluation.
Monitor and analyse defect trends and implement corrective actions to improve quality, documenting efforts and following up on outcomes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the production line, developing action plans and setting measurable goals to enhance productivity and efficiency.
Document and report on production outcomes, identifying areas for improvement and proposing solutions for production challenges.
Inventory and Material Management
Conduct routine and spot-check inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods to ensure accurate stock levels and uninterrupted production flow.
Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure timely ordering and replenishment of raw materials and supplies, aligning material availability with production demands.
Oversee the storage and handling of materials to reduce wastage and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Verify that incoming materials and WIP meet quality and specification requirements before they are integrated into the production process.
Address material shortages proactively by adjusting production plans or sourcing alternative materials, ensuring production continuity.
Other Related Tasks
Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Production team and ensure efficient operations.
Assist with special projects or initiatives related to Production team as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or any related field. , MA or MBA is a Plus
At least 5 years of experience in production control, planning, or procurement within a manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or assistant management role.
Strong understanding of production processes, quality management systems, and best practices in manufacturing. Experience in a similar industry or manufacturing setting is preferred.
Proficiency in production planning software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools. Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies is preferred.
Experience in leading cross-functional projects, managing timelines, and meeting strategic objectives.
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and lead a team.
