The Position

The position will be based on our Atlantis liveaboard, INFINTI LIVEABOARD.

The Chief Mate is responsible to provide professional and customer-focused service to our guests, ensuring that their stay will become a memorable experience and your role will include key responsibilities such as:

  • Navigate the vessel in the most fuel-efficient manner without compromising safety
  • Maintain effective communication with all crew and/or related departments to ensure smooth service delivery
  • Supervise all crew ensuring guests are taken care of in a professional and friendly manner

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation or equivalent

Experience

  • Six (6) years experience at sea
  • Four (4) years experience leading or supervising a team
  • Must have experience in standing watch and maneuvering vessels at sea
  • Must be able and willing to operate small skiffs with guests
  • Diving / Hospitality industry experience (preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

  • Thorough understanding of both navigational and engineering principles
  • Good time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Crew Management Skill and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on maintenance troubleshooting skills a plus
  • Good spoken and written English
  • Good 'team player' with excellent social skills
  • Computer Literate
  • Excellent guest care skills
  • Comfortable living and working in close quarters with other crew members, including those you are supervising.
  • Should be very flexible and physically able to work a minimum of 12 hours per day on 8 weeks on/2 weeks off schedule.

License and Certifications

  • Major PatronOIC/Master Mariner current license
  • Up-to-date Domestic Certificate of Competency (DCOC - Passenger Vessel) and Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping (STCW)
  • Valid Seafarer's Identification and Record B
  • Crowd and Crisis Managementook (SIRB)
  • Deck Watchkeeping Certificate
  • Basic Training Certificate
  • Basic Medical First Aid and Fire Fighting Certificate
  • ISM Certificate
