Your Role as a Fixed Asset Accountant

As a Fixed Asset Accountant, you'll support one of our amazing clients by overseeing everything from asset tracking to journal entries, ensuring financial accuracy while also providing insights that help drive smarter decisions. You'll manage the fixed asset register for a fleet of motor vehicles, handle loans and registrations, and dig into operational data to identify ways we can do things even better.

Key Responsibilities:

Fixed Asset & Loan Accounting:

• Maintain and update the fixed asset register for motor vehicles
• Process entries for finance leases, loans, and disposals accurately and on time
• Support the purchasing and disposal of fleet vehicles

Reconciliation & Month-End Journals:

• Reconcile bank, fixed asset, lease liability, and tax accounts
• Investigate and clear reconciling items within the following month
• Calculate and process month-end journals promptly

CTP & Registration Management:

• Handle registrations and insurance (CTP/Rego) with precision
• Ensure all vehicle documentation is up-to-date and compliant

Operational Analysis & Reporting:

• Analyse operational data to spot trends, patterns, and opportunities
• Deliver reports, dashboards, and KPIs to track business performance
• Conduct damage and maintenance cost analysis

Collaboration & Process Improvement:

• Partner with the Fleet Admin team and cross-functional teams to improve workflows
• Assist with system implementations (like Looker)
• Tackle ad-hoc projects as needed

Requirements

• At least 5 years of accounting experience
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (think pivot tables, VLOOKUP, IFs, IndexMatch)
• Experience collaborating with operational teams (fleet admin a big plus)
• Sharp eye for detail and strong reconciliation skills
• Self-starter with excellent time management and a proactive mindset
• Experience working with deadlines and adapting to shifting priorities
• Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively
