Sun Life Global Solutions (SLGS) is a global in-house shared services capability center supporting Sun Life's operations worldwide, including centers in India and the Philippines, with over 5,000 employees supporting insurance processes across Canada and the U.S.We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Risk Management specialist to join our Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team for Asia. This role is crucial in safeguarding our company's financial stability and operational integrity, contributing to our business success in Asia.

The Assistant Director

  • Governance, Risk & Compliance will help strengthen our control framework and lead risk and compliance programs to ensure the first line of operations remains compliant with operational and regulatory requirements.

This role supports the Asia Business Group across Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, and Bermuda, supporting over 20 million clients with life, health, and wealth management solutions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for:Driving operational and compliance risk programs across markets and strengthening internal controls

Maintaining control playbooks, risk assessments, and quarterly attestation processes

Implementing risk management strategies for new business initiatives

Identifying operational risks and recommending controls

Driving risk management programs like RCSA and PRCAnalyzing policies, claims data, and processes to identify risks

Monitoring industry and regulatory changes to update practices

Conducting management testing and thematic reviews

Collaborating with operational teams to embed risk principles

Designing metrics to evaluate risk mitigation

Providing risk management training

Supporting business continuity and disaster recovery planning

Participating in audits and regulatory examinations

Preparing management reports and tracking risk issues

Supporting special projects

People ManagementEstablishing and motivating new teams

Engaging with stakeholders professionally

Problem-solving and insightful storytelling for improvements

Driving results and service delivery

Communicating effectively

Building diverse and inclusive teams

Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in a relevant field with 10-15 years of risk management experience, preferably in insurance

Professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA/CA, CIA) preferred

Knowledge of risk management frameworks and certifications like ARM or CRMP valued

Experience with risk management software (e.g., Archer)Understanding of insurance operations and regulations

Data analysis skills and familiarity with insurance products

Ability to interpret legislation and regulations

Ability to work under deadlines
