Job Title: Intermediate Manufacturing Designer

Summary

Our client is looking for ethical, customer-focused, problem-solvers, flexible, and selfless individuals to join our fully remote design team. As an Intermediate Manufacturing Designer, you are responsible for translating product design concepts into production-ready digital models, detailed plans, and comprehensive documentation. This role requires a high degree of autonomy and project management responsibility to ensure that products are functional, manufacturable within specified cost and quality standards, and seamlessly integrated into the remote production workflow.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Virtual Documentation & Modeling: Create and manage manufacturing documentation. Develop detailed 3D CAD models, process sketches, and complete engineering drawings that convey specific manufacturing intent for parts and assemblies using shared cloud-based platforms.
• Design for manufacturability (DFM): Integrate manufacturing and assembly constraints into product designs, ensuring all concepts meet cost quality and performance requirements.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with the client's senior designers, manufacturing engineers, CNC programmers, and Management to coordinate design requirements.
• Digital prototyping support: Collaborate with on-site teams to guide prototyping and lab testing remotely. This includes preparing detailed assembly instructions, reviewing test results/data logs, and making necessary revisions based on digital feedback.
• Design Issue Resolution: Clarify and solve design problems that arise during the manufacturing process. Incorporate necessary fixes into updated documentation in a timely manner.
• Project Management: Help manage projects by tracking milestones, adhering to schedules, and assisting with resource prioritization.
• Research and Analysis: Stay current on industry trends, new materials, and manufacturing processes to inform innovative and sustainable design solutions.
• Design Modeling and Verification: Aggregate engineers' initial data (drawings, calculations, ideas) into complete digital models. Accurately annotate and verify all numerical designations and specifications in technical schematics using CAD and manual methods.
• Design and Documentation Standardization: Coordinate directly with engineers and project managers to verify design details and recommend modifications according to company standards. Actively assist in unifying design document standards by participating in meetings and preparing necessary presentation materials.
• Compliance: Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures, complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
• Support: Provide support to the engineering team as needed by creating technical drawings and digital models within deadlines and utilizing multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details.

• Other duties as assigned by Management

• A Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, or a related field; Associate's Degree with CAD training.

• 3-5 years of work experience in Mechanical Design or CAD for manufacturing processes.
• Experience with 3D Modeling Software (Solidworks & AutoCAD) is required.
• Strong understanding and working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) industry standards.
• Analytical Skills & Aptitude: Possesses strong math skills, excellent analytical ability, and a demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Professional Skills: Highly self-motivated, displays strong attention to detail, and is adept at managing work within strict deadlines.
• Shift schedule: Ability to work during US business hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST)
• Remote work productivity tool: Willingness and agreement to use Time Doctor or similar time-tracking/productivity software.
