Position Overview As the Wellness Navigator, you will help Pukúu Cultural Community Services (Pukúu) through the provision of wellness , engagement and outreach activities. This person will work directly with Community Members seeking services through Pukúu's services. They will provide wellness messaging, referral services and outreach that includes wellness, harm reduction, substance use, and culturally responsive needs. The ideal applicant will enjoy working directly with the community and representing Pukúu's vision, work, and values in meetings with other organizations and agencies, as appropriate. The Wellness Navigator will develop and deploy outreach and engagement strategies for Pukúu projects and programs that amplify Tribal/Indigenous community perspectives.   About Pukúu Cultural Community Services
Pukúu Cultural Community Services (Pukúu) is a social service non-profit founded in 1971 by the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians with a mission to invest in sustainable programs that bridge and improve opportunities for American Indians with culturally based community services now and for future generations. Pukúu offers programs for Native Americans ranging from housing stability, education support, cultural enhancement, child and family development, emergency financial assistance, employment programs, and more in Los Angeles County. This position will work through the One Stop Emergency Services program.    
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITES: The Wellness Navigator will work closely under the direction of the OSES Program Coordinator in the implementation of these key areas for both in-office and outreach events: 1. Creates individualized services/needs plans in collaboration with families and individuals to address barriers and meet their desired goals that may include housing stability, utility assistance, food security and link to other supportive services to empower and educate individuals to become self-advocates and to actively participate in their own care. 2. Provide referrals and direct/indirect linkages, such as but not limited to, additional local supportive services, resources, and groups to increase wellness and self-sufficiency to help them find resources and support their need to improve their health and well-being. 3. Work collaboratively with other agencies, such as LAHSA, County services, housing providers, and social service providers to support individuals/families progress towards stability, wellness, and stability. 4. Provide harm reduction education, overdose prevention, and support to individuals and community through direct individual and group sessions. 5. Outreaching to services providers, housing entities, and community-based organizations to identify new and existing opportunities, supportive services, and mainstream benefits. 6. Assisting the Program Coordinator with reports, planning and logistics. Other duties as directed.

The following are required qualifications: · A history of effective outreach to community members · Experience presenting at workshops and community meetings · Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and meet tight timelines · Demonstrated ability to learn and comprehend project goals and priorities, exercise sound judgment, and acclimate to adaptive project management needs. · Ability to work under pressure · Solid conflict resolution skills · Ability to interact collaboratively and be team-oriented · Intermediate or advanced MS Office software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel (or other spreadsheet software) and Microsoft Power Point. · Ability to remain flexible and adapt to multiple processes that are prone to change · Must have a valid CA Driver's License with an acceptable driving record as determined by the Tribe's insurance carrier, and proof of insurance · Must be dependable, punctual, self-directed, willing to take initiative, detail-oriented, and courteous and personable when dealing with the public. · Must have access to reliable Wi-Fi and be able to use online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams when working remotely. · Must have the skills necessary to use software to track engagement with the public and other relevant information as may be required for reporting purposes. · Preferred, lived experience   DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS · Experience in wellness, harm reduction, culturally adaptive strategies and/ or outreach · Multi-lingual skills, preferably Spanish, and multi-cultural experience · Some knowledge of the culture and history of the Pukuu Cultural Community Services and Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. · Bachelor's degree in social sciences or related field.  
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Duties are performed primarily in the office, but also in the field. Travel is required to various locations in the region for meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, and site visits. Weekly evening programming and monthly weekend events will be required. The physical demands described here are representative of those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. · Possible fieldwork may be required and subject to the environmental conditions of the season. · Ability to work in a standard office setting, with considerable sitting and viewing of monitor. · Requires reaching continually throughout the workday (mouse, keyboard, and telephone). · May include lifting thirty pounds on an infrequent basis. Proper lifting techniques are required. · Must use a personal cell phone for communications with supervisors and colleagues.   CONFIDENTIALITY This position develops, maintains, and is responsible for safeguarding the computer/electronic and hardcopy file folders containing sensitive and proprietary information about Pukuu and its clients. If hired, the applicant will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. The applicant must maintain confidentiality of all work and files pertaining to enrollment, clients, survey results, and all other material that may identify individuals by name (either directly or by reference), as set forth by Pukuu and applicable laws. Any violation in this matter may result in immediate termination of employment.

Compensation: $ $24.00 per hour
