Accounts Officer

You will be required to assist in all aspects of the companys finance and accounting operations, which may at times extend beyond the duties listed below.
You will manage the day-to-day financial processes such as accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with internal procedures and Australian accounting standards.
This will require you to process invoices, receipts, supplier payments and reconcile multiple accounts while coordinating with internal teams, suppliers and clients to ensure smooth financial operations.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and issue client invoices in Xero.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Process supplier invoices and manage weekly/monthly payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice or payment discrepancies.
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly bank reconciliations in Xero.
- Reconcile credit card, petty cash and expense accounts.
- Assist with month-end journals, accruals and reporting requirements.
- Maintain accurate and organised financial records.
- Support the Finance Manager with audits, financial queries and compliance documentation.
- Ensure all accounting entries meet internal controls and relevant legislation.
- Send welcome emails and onboarding documents to new employees and create their profiles in Xero for payroll processing.
- Provide general administrative support to the Management Team (General Manager, Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager), including preparing training agreements and staff-related documents.
- Handle general ordering requirements for office and warehouse supplies (Officeworks, Coles, warehouse consumables, etc.).
Requirements
- A qualification in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred.
- Xero experience is essential.
- 3 years of experience in an Australian accounting or finance role.
- Solid experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and bank reconciliation.
- Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and financial compliance.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail and data integrity.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- The ability to work independently and think proactively in resolving financial discrepancies.
- Proficiency with MS Excel and general accounting tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with suppliers, clients, and internal staff.
- Honesty, reliability and a strong work ethic are essential.
- Experience with onboarding admin, employee setup in Xero and general office administration is an advantage.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks across finance, admin and operational support roles.
