  • Supply chain and operations: Develop, implement, and manage logistics strategies, processes, and procedures.
  • Inventory management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels, conduct physical inventories, and ensure proper storage of materials.
  • Transportation and shipping: Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, optimize transportation routes, and manage shipping costs and carriers.
  • Vendor and contract management: Manage relationships with suppliers and carriers, negotiate contracts and rates, and process purchase orders.
  • Reporting and analysis: Prepare reports on supply chain performance and logistics costs, and analyze data to find areas for improvement.
  • Problem-solving: Resolve issues such as lost or damaged shipments, equipment malfunctions, and bottlenecks.
  • Compliance and safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and international trade agreements and implement safety and security procedures.

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential. The ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment is also important.
  • Software proficiency: Familiarity with logistics software, inventory and database management systems, and the Microsoft Office suite is typically required.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is often preferred, along with a minimum number of years of related experience.
