Key responsibilities

  • Surface Preparation: Clean, sand, and mask vehicles to prepare them for painting. Perform minor body repairs like filling dents and scratches.
  • Color Matching and Mixing: Accurately mix and match paint colors using a computerized system or by hand to match the vehicle's original color or the client's specifications.
  • Paint Application: Apply primer, base coats, and clear coats using spray guns or other appropriate equipment in a controlled environment like a downdraft booth.
  • Quality Control: Inspect the painted surface for imperfections like runs, drips, or dirt. Buff, polish, and touch-up the paint to achieve a high-gloss, flawless finish.
  • Equipment and Safety: Maintain and clean all painting equipment, including spray guns, and ensure all tools and materials are stored properly. Follow all safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment like masks, gloves, and coveralls, and participate in required health and safety testing like fit tests.
  • Communication and Documentation: Communicate with other team members, management, and clients about job progress, diagnoses, and any issues.
