Key responsibilities include recording financial transactions, preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and processing payroll, while also developing and implementing compliance policies, staying updated on legal changes, and conducting internal audits to minimize risk.

Bookkeeping responsibilities

  • Record and categorize financial transactions: Enter and organize all income, expenses, accounts payable, and accounts receivable using accounting software.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable: Handle invoicing, track payments, and manage vendor and client relationships.
  • Process payroll: Calculate wages, withhold taxes, and manage payroll operations.
  • Perform bank reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements with internal records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Prepare financial statements: Generate reports such as balance sheets and income statements.
  • Maintain the general ledger: Ensure the general ledger is accurate and up-to-date.

Compliance manager responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies: Create and update company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments: Evaluate business ventures to identify potential compliance risks.
  • Monitor compliance: Oversee the compliance system, review regulatory changes, and conduct internal reviews and audits.
  • Provide guidance: Advise management on compliance matters and ensure incidents are addressed appropriately.
  • Stay informed: Conduct ongoing research to stay current with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Review marketing and contracts: Ensure marketing materials and other business activities comply with legal requirements.
