The Engineering Manager oversees the facilities, repairs, and maintenance operations of SHG restaurant locations. This role ensures that each restaurant operates efficiently, safely, and in accordance with SHG's quality standards. The Engineering Manager leads the maintenance team, manages service providers, and collaborates cross-functionally to support operational excellence and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Facilities Maintenance

  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for restaurant equipment, utilities, and facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, sanitation, and local regulatory standards.
  • Maintain an updated schedule for all maintenance and service contracts.

Coordination & Support

  • Partner with Operations for maintenance priorities affecting restaurant performance.
  • Work closely with Procurement for sourcing materials and contractors.
  • Coordinate with Marketing for maintenance of physical collaterals, signage, and installations.

Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and develop the in-house maintenance team.
  • Conduct regular inspections and performance evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Licensed Engineer preferred).

Experience: At least 5 years of experience in facilities or maintenance management within the hospitality or restaurant industry.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of kitchen and building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration).
  • Excellent coordination and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in maintenance tracking systems and MS Office tools.

Behavioral Expectations:

  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency in resolving maintenance issues to minimize store downtime.
  • Willing to travel daily for on-site inspections and store visits.
  • Highly mobile and hands-on, ensuring visibility and responsiveness across SHG restaurant locations.
  • Displays professionalism, accountability, and collaborative attitude when dealing with internal teams and external partners.
