Design Engineer

Role Description: 

• Carry out a range of activities to support the development and implementation of engineering solutions
• Typically assigned to provide a substantial technical role for single discipline on smaller, less complex tasks or elements of larger, less complex tasks within a project 
• Would not ordinarily act in a Task Management role

Knowledge and Experience:

• Able to guide and provide technical advice to junior team members, to support them in their delivery on the project and in their professional development
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to discuss ideas and plan competently
• Experienced in using Arcadis management system requirements to support delivery of design and engineering projects
• Able to actively participate in safe design processes which consider safety during construction, operation and decomissioning through the use of hazard identification and risk assessment during design development
• Possess a general understanding of one or more sectors within the business
• Maintain a sound theoretical approach to the application of technology in engineering practice
• Able to use a sound evidence-based approach to problem solving
• Able to operate reliably, independently and competently in a specialist discipline
• Able to input into discussions around identifying, reviewing and selecting techniques, procedures and methods to undertake engineering tasks
• Capable of contributing to the design and development of engineering solutions
• Have advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications including the ability to use a range of computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems and presenting results
• Possess excellent time management skills consistently demonstrated through performance on projects
• Experience performing work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule with limited supervision
• Have a knowledge of sustainable development best practice
• Able to support engineering activities that contribute to sustainable development
   

Key Qualifications: 

• Bachelor Degree in Engineering or equivalent and formally licensed 
  to act as a professional engineer (if required in their Arcadis GEC 
  country)
• Possess 3-10 years of relevant professional experience
