Position Summary

The Engineering Head oversees the entire engineering department, ensuring that all technical operations, projects, maintenance activities, and engineering initiatives are executed efficiently and aligned with company standards. This role provides leadership, technical direction, and strategic planning to support operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.


Key Duties & Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Department Management
  • Lead, supervise, and mentor the engineering team, including supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
  • Develop department goals, KPIs, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure proper scheduling, manpower allocation, and task delegation.
2. Project Planning & Execution
  • Oversee engineering projects—from planning and design to implementation and completion.
  • Review and approve engineering plans, technical drawings, and project proposals.
  • Monitor project progress, budgets, timelines, and resource usage.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal departments to ensure project success.
3. Maintenance & Operations
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are implemented effectively.
  • Maintain high equipment uptime and reliability through continuous monitoring.
  • Ensure all machinery, facilities, and utilities operate at safe and optimal conditions.
  • Evaluate and upgrade systems to support operational efficiency.
4. Safety, Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure full adherence to safety regulations, building codes, and engineering standards.
  • Implement safety protocols, audits, and inspections to reduce risk.
  • Guarantee compliance with government regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
5. Budgeting & Resource Management
  • Prepare and manage the engineering department's annual budget.
  • Evaluate and approve procurement of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Ensure cost-effective solutions and proper utilization of resources.
6. Technical Support & Innovation
  • Provide technical guidance to management, operations, and other departments.
  • Lead modernization and automation initiatives to improve processes.
  • Conduct research on new technologies, equipment, and engineering solutions.
7. Reporting & Documentation
  • Prepare engineering reports, maintenance logs, performance dashboards, and project updates.
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, projects, and asset history.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related field).
  • Licensed Engineer (preferred but not always required depending on industry).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge in project management, facilities management, and maintenance systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in engineering software, MS Office, and technical documentation.
