DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for the implementation of the Company's Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance with safety regulations (Occupational Safety and Health Standards) and to preserve worker health and safety.
· Closely monitors worker compliance and accident statistics and implements corrections as needed.
· Evaluate site processes and equipment to determine controls needed to keep workers safe. Safety measures may include engineering controls, such as barriers or ventilation, personal protective gear, or special procedures.
· Responsible for ensuring those workers understand safe work procedures and are competent to safely carry out their assigned duties through training.
· Investigates the accident to determine the root cause and works with the Management team to implement corrective actions to ensure a similar incident does not occur again.
· Compiles statistics and publishes reports for regulators and for company management and uses this information to identify injury trends and to implement programs to improve accident statistics.
· Reviewing Hazard Analysis before any new operation begins. Instructing the responsible Supervisor or foreman on what is required and reviewing it when completed.
· Issuing stop-work orders for any operation, including subcontractors and trade contractors that pose an immediate danger to project personnel or have the potential to cause serious injury or damage.
· Keeping himself informed and initiating necessary dissemination of all applicable rules and regulations of the Occupational Safety & Health Standards and of the Department of Labor and Employment
