For high school learners, we focus on deeper reading, structured writing, critical thinking, and exam readiness (AP & SAT).

We're building a selective team of skilled English tutors who can help teens grow into confident, analytical, college-ready writers and readers.


What You'll Teach

You will support U.S. high school students in:

Core English:
  • Literary analysis (theme, tone, structure, rhetoric)
  • Close reading & annotation
  • Grammar and mechanics
  • Academic & creative writing
  • Essay writing (argumentative, literary, expository)
AP English (Language/Literature):
  • Rhetorical analysis
  • Synthesis essays
  • Prose & poetry analysis
  • Evidence-based writing
  • Timed practice based on College Board rubrics
SAT Reading & Writing (Optional but preferred):
  • Passage analysis
  • Logical structure & transitions
  • Grammar & usage
  • Elimination strategies
  • Timed question-solving

What You'll Do
  • Teach engaging, structured 1-on-1 online sessions to Grades 9–12
  • Break down complex literary and rhetorical concepts clearly
  • Guide students through essays, revisions, and structured writing processes
  • Prepare targeted practice for AP/SAT when relevant
  • Provide clear, constructive written and verbal feedback
  • Maintain progress notes and communicate effectively with parents

Who We're Looking For
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Journalism, Communication, Education, or related
  • 2+ years of online tutoring or teaching (high school level preferred)
  • Strong command of reading comprehension, writing structure, and literary analysis
  • Excellent English communication with a neutral accent
  • Ability to teach teenagers with confidence, empathy, and structure
Preferred (Not mandatory)
  • AP English experience (Language/Literature)
  • SAT Reading/Writing experience
  • Familiarity with U.S. Common Core & College Board standards
  • Experience giving structured feedback on essays
