About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced and technically skilled Data Scientist to join our team remotely. This role requires deep expertise in AI/ML development, cloud-based deployments (particularly in Azure), and hands-on experience in scaling proof-of-concepts (POCs) to production. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Python, a thorough understanding of healthcare data standards, and a proven track record in building intelligent data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI solutions using Python and Azure cloud services.
- Design and implement machine learning models, particularly for natural language processing (NLP) tasks such as:
- Text extraction
- Text classification
- Sentiment analysis
- Named entity recognition (NER)
- Summarization
- Apply RAG (Retriever-Augmented Generation) architectures in real-world NLP use cases.
- Utilize Azure tools and APIs including:
- Azure AI Search
- Azure OpenAI APIs
- Azure SQL Database
- Conduct data preprocessing and transformations using SQL Server and Python.
- Manage data normalization, feature engineering, and data augmentation.
- Work with search algorithms, indexing techniques, and retrieval models; familiarity with Elasticsearch or Azure AI Search is a plus.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare data standards such as HIPAA and FHIR.
- Implement data masking and security techniques for PII/PHI protection.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Apply best practices for cloud cost management and resource optimization.
Qualifications
Must-Haves:
- At least 10 years of experience as a Data Scientist.
- Advanced Python proficiency, with hands-on experience in AI/ML development.
- Deep experience with the Azure ecosystem, especially deploying and scaling AI applications.
- Demonstrated ability to scale Proof of Concepts (POCs) into production-ready systems.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Python libraries and frameworks such as Langchain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, spaCy.
- Data manipulation and complex querying using SQL Server.
- RAG architecture and retrieval-based NLP systems.
- Cloud infrastructure, deployment, and monitoring using Azure.
- Familiarity with healthcare data regulations (HIPAA, FHIR).
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
- Effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Team collaboration in fast-paced, cross-functional environments.
