A. General Description of the Job

The Pharmacists are responsible for the dispensing and quality testing of all medicines used in the hospital. They work closely with medical and nursing staff to ensure that patients receive the best treatment. They also provide help and advice to patients in all aspects of their medicines.

B. Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fills prescriptions and dispenses pharmaceutical products for in and out patients.

  2. Dispenses prohibited / narcotic drugs only with yellow prescription or with S2 license in case of regulated drugs.

  3. Labels all medicines in accordance with FDA / ISO / JCI labeling requirements.

  4. Assists the senior staff pharmacist in the supervision of the pharmacy dispensing area.

  5. Conducts weekly inventory of medicines in dispensing areas.

  6. Notifies the nurses of the unavailability of the requested drug and let them inform the doctor for the substitute drug available in the Hospital formulary with the same generic and drug classification.

  7. Responsible for monitoring and notifies the senior pharmacist for the re-ordering of stocks from

Stockroom to ensure the availability of medicines in the dispensing area all the time.

  1. Supervises the pharmacy assistants and pharmacy intern in preparation of medicines.

  2. Monitor the e-cart regularly and close the e-cart when it's open.

  3. Monitor biological refrigerators regularly.

  4. Monitors expiring and expired medicines in the dispensing area.

  5. Attends scientific seminar-workshops and continuing education on drug-related matters and hospital pharmacy practice.

  6. Participates in the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) program of the Pharmacy Service.

  7. Performs other related functions as instructed by his/her superior

C. Working Conditions

  1. Works 40 hours a week in a shifting duty hours

  2. Ability to work full-time scheduled shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

D. Requirements

  • Licensed Pharmacist
  • Has a hospital experience but not required
  • Is expected to demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of departmental and hospital program structure (Mission, Vision and Goal statements) and department policies and procedures.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate effective time management skills while working independently with minimal supervision and supervising others.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, communication, organization, computer literate, and follow-through skills.
