Job description:
- Purchase or contract for supplies, services and equipment required by the company, within the limits of the current budget approved by the management, and in accordance with purchasing procedures.
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other information to determine reasonable prices.
- Negotiate and recommend execution of contracts for the purchase of supplies, services and equipment.
- Act to procure for the company the needed quality in supplies, services and equipment at least expense to the company.
- Evaluate and monitor contracts and specifications and SLAs to be sure that suppliers and supplies comply with the terms and conditions of the contract and to determine the needed for changes.
- Supervise the inspection of all supplies, services and equipment purchased to ensure conformance with specifications.
- Discourage uniform, bidding and endeavor to obtain as full and open competition as possible on all purchases.
- Prescribe and maintain such forms as are reasonably necessary to conform to the requirements of purchasing and other rules and regulations.
- Meet with end users and suppliers to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed.
- Maintain a bidders' list, vendors file, and such other records as are needed for the efficient operation of the purchasing function.
- Interview suppliers and visit suppliers plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices.
- Ensures that all personnel and employee under his/her leadership/responsibility are provided appropriate direction, leadership, guidance, support, and training to enable the advancement of their knowledge and experience in the operations of the overall plant energy and related mechanical systems environment.
- Assumes responsibility for the performance of employees in the area of responsibility by spot checking work in the area, evaluating the quality of the work performed, and coordinating with the Section Manager and HR Manager to develop management tools to evaluate personnel and trade related performance.
- Enforces Company rules and policies regarding employee conduct by advising all assigned employees about the Company's rules and policies on employee conduct, issuing verbal warnings and written reprimands for violations, and recommending progressive disciplinary action to Section Manager and HR Manager as necessary.
- Facilitates a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
