Home-based Shopfitting Draftsman

The Shopfitting Draftsperson is responsible for the creation and preparation of high-quality technical drawings, plans, and models for retail and commercial interior fit-outs. This role requires a keen eye for detail, advanced proficiency in CAD software, and the ability to interpret complex design and architectural specifications. The ideal candidate will effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to the successful delivery of projects from concept through to installation.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Drafting:

• Create detailed, accurate plans, technical drawings, and 3D models for shop interiors, fittings, furniture, and other retail elements using CAD software.
• Interpret and adapt architectural blueprints and client requirements into precise shopfitting designs.
• Specify materials, finishes, and construction methods for fabrication.

Site & Project Management:

• Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions, take precise measurements, and ensure designs are feasible for installation.
• Coordinate with project managers, designers, and other trades (e.g., electricians, tilers) to ensure seamless project execution.
• Oversee the preparation of tenders, quotes, and material costings.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in computer-aided design (CAD) software, especially 3D modeling.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.

Soft Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients and teams.

• Strong problem-solving abilities to overcome design and construction challenges.

• Adaptability to a fast-paced environment with changing project requirements.

Education & Training:

• A vocational qualification, Degree, diploma or certificate, such as a is often a prerequisite for entry-level roles.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in drafting
• Minimum 1 year experience working with Australian client
• Must have portfolio to showcase sample of Australia projects
