Job Description:
The Accounting Officer is responsible for managing the financial records of the company, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. The role involves handling daily accounting operations, monitoring store transactions, preparing financial reports, and supporting the overall financial health of the retail business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations in compliance with company policies and retail industry standards.
- Record, reconcile, and monitor sales transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory-related entries.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments to suppliers, landlords, and service providers.
- Handle bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow across retail stores.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in preparing tax filings and other statutory requirements.
- Coordinate with store managers and other departments to resolve discrepancies and provide financial insights.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing of financial records.
- Support external and internal audits as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA license is an advantage but not required.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail or a related industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or equivalent) and MS Office applications (Excel, Word).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure with strict deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
