  1. Diagnose vehicle problems

  6. Perform preventive maintenance to extend vehicle lifespan and prevent breakdowns.

  7. Repair and replace faulty parts/components

  8. Replace or repair defective or worn parts (brakes, suspension, engine/transmission components, electrical/electronic components, etc.).

  9. Conduct major repairs when needed, such as overhauls, engine or transmission repair (depending on specialization).

  10. Test and inspect for quality and safety

  11. Perform test drives, system checks, or inspections after repairs to ensure vehicles are operating safely and correctly.

  12. Ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety/regulatory standards (including emissions, if applicable).

  13. Customer interaction & documentation

  14. Explain diagnosis, repair work and maintenance recommendations to customers; give estimates for cost/time.

  15. Maintain accurate records of services performed, parts used, maintenance history, and recommendations.
  16. Communicate with parts suppliers or parts department to order required parts when needed.

  17. Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace

  18. Use and maintain hand tools, power tools, lifts, diagnostic machines, and other automotive equipment.

  19. Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.

  20. Stay updated with automotive technologies

  21. Learn new repair techniques, changes in automotive technology (e.g. electronic systems, new car models), and diagnostic methods to improve service quality.
