Job Summary:

The Junior Database Administrator (Jr. DBA) will assist in the management, maintenance, and optimization of the organization's database systems. This role involves ensuring database availability, security, and performance, as well as troubleshooting issues and supporting database-related changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management and maintenance of company databases, ensuring their availability, security, and performance.
  • Help monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth operations.
  • Perform routine database backups and restore operations as required.
  • Support data migration efforts and assist in database upgrades and patches.
  • Collaborate with senior DBAs and development teams to implement database-related changes and improvements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist in database security tasks, including user access control and data encryption.
  • Participate in database disaster recovery planning and testing.
  • Respond to database-related incidents and assist with resolving any performance, availability, or security issues.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Basic understanding of database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Familiarity with SQL and query optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the field of database administration.
