The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of the organization's database environments. This role serves as a subject matter expert, ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of database systems while working closely with cross-functional teams to support business and application needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain enterprise database systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and optimal performance.
  • Monitor database health and performance, proactively identifying issues and implementing tuning and optimization solutions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies, including regular testing.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, migrations, and capacity planning activities.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and development teams to design and support scalable and efficient database solutions.
  • Define and enforce database standards, best practices, and security measures, including access control and data protection.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex database incidents, performing root cause analysis and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Create, maintain, and update database documentation, procedures, and operational runbooks.
  • Support compliance, audit, and risk management requirements related to database systems.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing to junior DBAs and other technical team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Extensive experience as a Database Administrator supporting enterprise-level database platforms (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle).
  • Advanced knowledge of SQL, performance tuning, and query optimization techniques.
  • Proven experience with database backup, recovery, and high-availability architectures.
  • Strong understanding of database security concepts, access controls, and data protection practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and make sound technical decisions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
