AU Accountant

You will be required to assist in all aspects of the companys financial and accounting processes, which may at times extend beyond the duties listed below.
You will manage the day-to-day accounting functions including financial record maintenance, accounts management, reconciliations, compliance tasks and reporting, ensuring accuracy and adherence to Australian accounting standards.
This will require you to maintain ledgers and financial documentation, process accounts payable and receivable, reconcile key accounts, prepare financial statements and support internal and external audit activities.
Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, receipts and supporting documentation.
- Accurately record and categorise all financial transactions in Xero.
- Process supplier invoices and handle accounts payable and receivable activities.
- Monitor outstanding invoices and follow up on payments.
- Prepare and issue financial statements or summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Reconcile bank statements, general ledger accounts, credit cards and multi-currency accounts.
- Identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial legislation and internal policies.
- Prepare documentation and provide assistance during internal and external audits.
- Generate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports including balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements.
- Present financial data and insights to management where required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across financial processes and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
- CA or CPA qualification is highly regarded.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in an AU accounting or finance role.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential.
- Experience with payment interfaces such as Stripe and managing multi-currency accounts is highly regarded.
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
