Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assessing and interpreting patient evaluations and test results.
  • Developing treatment plans using a variety of treatment techniques in accordance with Physiatrist's prescription.
  • Creating personalized fitness-oriented health care programs for patients.
  • Administering medically prescribed physical therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve mobility.
  • Advising patients on exercise techniques.
  • Advising patients and their families about in-home treatment options.
  • Providing educational information about injury prevention, ergonomics and ways to promote physical health.
  • Consulting and collaborating with other healthcare professionals.
  • Checks on the proper set up and maintenance of therapeutic modalities and equipment.
  • Documenting patients' physical therapy records, which include the attendance, condition, progress and adverse events
  • during treatment.
  • Complying with rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Upholds the code of ethics and standards of practice of the physical therapy profession.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure:

  • A bachelor's degree in Physical therapy from an accredited educational institution.
  • Passed the Philippine Physical therapy/Occupational Therapy Board exam. (RA 5680)
  • A valid license to practice physical therapy. (RA 5680 Sec. 1d)
  • Experience:
  • 1 to 2 year experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Recent / previous work experience in primary health care setting
  • Specific skills:
  • Ability to follow written and oral directions
  • Ability to use a computer and software proficiently.
  • Knowledgeable to operate PT equipment
  • Personal characteristics:
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and attentive to detail.
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of treatment practices.
  • Ability to solve problems independently.
  • Excellent analytical and logical thinking.
  • Ability to manage patients with different personalities.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence at a professional level.
  • Drive to continually learn new treatment techniques.

Certification:

  • Any training related to PT practice.

Inpatient Treatments: Medium- is considered generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Outpatient Treatments: Light- is considered generally lifting not more than 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
