Senior Technical Engineering Role (No People Management)

Ardent Engineers is a fast-growing Australian structural engineering firm, and we are seeking a highly technical, detail-driven Structural Engineer to join us as our Technical Lead (Engineering Standards).

About the Role

As our Technical Lead (Engineering Standards), you will:

Own and Improve Engineering Standards

  • Upgrade templates, detail libraries, and calculation sheets
  • Ensure engineering documentation is consistent and clear
  • Help systemise best-practice design approaches across all teams

Perform High-Quality Technical Reviews

  • Review complex or high-risk engineering designs
  • Support Team Leads with clear reasoning and structured feedback
  • Identify recurring issues and strengthen systems to prevent them

Drive Internal Technical Improvements

  • Research and develop improved engineering workflows
  • Create practical tools that make engineering faster and clearer
  • Deliver 1–2 improvement projects each quarter

Provide Selective Technical Delivery (~$2k/week)

  • Complete specialist designs to stay connected to real workflows
  • Validate and refine engineering templates through practical use

This is a technical mastery role — ideal for engineers who love first principles, clarity, and problem-solving.

Work Environment

  • Fully remote (Philippines)
  • Work with senior Australian engineers and team leads
  • Highly structured environment with strong QA and processes

What We're Looking ForMust-Have Skills

  • 7–12+ years structural engineering experience
  • Strong technical ability in steel and reinforced concrete design
  • Excellent understanding of structural mechanics and first principles
  • Experience reviewing or checking other engineers' work
  • Strong written English and ability to explain designs clearly
  • Loves working with templates, details, and technical systems

Preferred

  • Familiarity with Australian Standards (AS/NZS)
  • Experience in residential or small commercial structures
