Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transaction Processing: Operating cash registers or POS systems, scanning items, and calculating total costs for purchases.
  • Payment Handling: Accepting various forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, debit cards, and checks.
  • Customer Service: Greeting customers, answering questions about products, and providing a positive shopping experience.
  • Cash Management: Balancing the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts, counting cash, and making accurate change.
  • Returns & Exchanges: Processing customer returns and exchanges according to company policy.
  • Checkout Area Maintenance: Keeping the checkout area clean, organized, and well-stocked.
  • Inventory Assistance: Helping with tasks like stocking shelves, rotating merchandise, and maintaining product codes and pricing.
  • Upselling & Promotions: Informing customers about current promotions, products, and potentially suggesting add-on sales.
