The IT Project Business Analyst plays a key role in bridging business needs with IT solutions. This role involves independently gathering and analyzing requirements, designing process improvements, and supporting the delivery of IT projects. The analyst collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure that solutions align with business goals and deliver measurable value.

Scope of Work:

  1. Requirements Analysis & Documentation:

o Lead the elicitation and documentation of business, functional, and non-functional requirements.

o Translate business needs into clear, actionable user stories or specifications.

  1. Process Improvement:

o Analyze current business processes and identify areas for optimization.

o Design and propose improved workflows and system enhancements.

  1. Project Support:

o Collaborate with project managers to define scope, timelines, and deliverables.

o Track project progress and assist in risk and issue management.

  1. Stakeholder Engagement:

o Facilitate workshops, meetings, and presentations with stakeholders.

o Act as a liaison between business users and technical teams.

  1. Testing & Quality Assurance:

o Develop test plans and support user acceptance testing (UAT).

o Validate that delivered solutions meet business requirements.

  1. Change Management:

o Support change impact analysis and communication planning.

o Assist in training and onboarding users to new systems or processes.

Recommended Certifications:

Business Analysis:


• CCBA (Certification of Capability in Business Analysis) – by IIBA Ideal for professionals with 2–3 years of BA experience.


• PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis) – by PMI For those involved in project-based analysis work.

Project & Agile Methodologies:


• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) For Agile environments.


• PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner For structured project management.


• ITIL Foundation For understanding IT service management.

Key Skills:


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Proficiency in tools like Jira, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, and MS Office Suite
