Job Description

As an SMSF Accountant, you will prepare financial statements, tax returns, activity statements, and TBARs for a portfolio of self-managed superannuation fund clients. You will ensure compliance, manage audits, and provide accurate, timely support while building strong relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders.

The Qualifications We Seek

Essential:

  • Hold a relevant university Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Accounting or Commerce
  • Possess 2+ years of experience in an accounting role
  • Navigate BGL Simple Fund 360 software effectively
  • Demonstrate experience working with SMSFs

Your Daily Tasks

Technical Expertise

  • Hold a relevant university degree in Accounting/Commerce
  • Prepare SMSF Accounts and Annual Returns
    • Handle all parts of a compliance job from start to finish
    • Sort through client source documents
    • Process accounts using superannuation software
    • Reconcile all SMSF accounts
    • Prepare comprehensive working papers
    • Address job queries and liaise with other Pitcher Partners teams
    • Prepare document packs and covering letters for clients
    • Save completed files and working papers in the document management system
    • Prepare client fees
  • Prepare SMSF Activity Statements and TBARs
  • Manage SuperStream compliance
    • Register SMSFs for ESAs
    • Process rollovers through the SuperStream system in BGL Simple Fund 360

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with SMSF auditors and address audit queries
    • Send completed financials and working papers to the auditor
    • Track audit queries and provide accurate, timely responses
  • Liaise with the Tax Office and handle official correspondence
    • Make phone calls to the Tax Office regarding relevant issues
    • Check Tax Office notices to ensure accuracy of figures
    • Prepare covering letters for clients

Client Care

  • Support clients on various superannuation matters
  • Build strong relationships with clients
  • Provide responsive, timely, and quality advice and service
  • Seek continuous feedback to improve engagement and service delivery

Business Excellence

  • Charge time accurately and meet budgeted chargeable hours and productivity targets
  • Manage a portfolio of complex and non-complex engagements to ensure timely completion
  • Prioritize tasks, remain flexible, and inform the assignment supervisor of any issues meeting deadlines or budgets
  • Set a high standard in quality of work, workflow management, and align with Pitcher Partners' values and mission
