Senior Tax Accountant

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for completing working papers and assisting the onshore team with client tax compliance reports. Your expertise in fundamental and core aspects of clients' tax compliance will be essential in handling various tasks provided by the Accounting Manager or Service Delivery Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and lodge individual income tax returns
  • Prepare and lodge business activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge installment activity statements
  • Prepare and lodge fringe benefits tax returns
  • Perform bookkeeping in client accounting files, including Xero, MYOB, and occasionally QuickBooks
  • Process payroll in client accounting files, including Xero and MYOB
  • Upload invoice payments for clients
  • Process quarterly superannuation payments
  • Prepare monthly management reports (P&L and balance sheet) for clients from their accounting platforms
  • Account for Division 7a loans
  • Conduct tax planning
  • Prepare trust distribution minutes
  • Review work prepared by junior accountants as needed
  • Perform training in downtime to improve own skills and share knowledge with the team
  • Prepare financial statements and income tax returns for businesses operating through companies and trusts, including groups with inter-entity transactions

Qualifications:

  • Hold a degree in Finance and/or Accounting
  • Possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is preferred

Requirements:

  • Have at least 4-5 years of experience in Australian accounting or taxation
  • Be knowledgeable about Australian Taxation and Compliance
  • Have general accounting experience with a solid background
  • Must have experience in Individual, Partnership, Trust, and Company Compliance
  • SMSF compliance knowledge is preferred but not required
