About the Role

As the Brand Compliance Manager of SM BU's, you will ensure that the organization's brand identity, messaging, assets and usage across all channels adhere to established internal guidelines, regulatory requirements and external standards.

Responsibilities

Brand-Guideline & Usage Oversight

  • Develop, maintain, and enforce the brand compliance framework (brand guidelines, asset usage, logo/licensing rules, tone of voice, visual identity)
  • Review and approve (or audit) marketing, digital, print, packaging and external communications materials to ensure consistency with brand guidelines and compliance requirements
  • Monitor internal and external use of the brand (channels, partner/co-brand, franchise/licensing contexts) to detect non-compliance or misuse
  • Collaborate with marketing, design, digital, product, sales and external agencies to ensure all brand touch-points adhere to approved standards

Regulatory / Legal / Risk Compliance

  • Work with legal / compliance teams to interpret any relevant regulatory requirements (e.g., advertising standards, trade-marks, licensing, co-branding agreements, regional market rules) and translate them into brand-compliance practice
  • Develop control systems & processes for brand-compliance risks (e.g., unapproved brand use, incorrect claims, non-licensed partnerships)
  • Conduct periodic audits/assessments of brand asset use and usage across channels/regions, identify gaps and drive corrective actions
  • Prepare reports for senior leadership on brand compliance status, violations, and mitigation plans

Training & Culture

  • Develop and deliver training, awareness programmes and guidelines to internal teams (marketing, sales, agencies, regional offices) to foster a culture of brand compliance
  • Produce guidance materials (playbooks, checklists, digital asset portals) to simplify brand-compliant execution

Continuous Improvement & Governance

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, regulatory changes and evolving brand/marketing trends that may impact brand usage and compliance
  • Recommend changes and improvements to brand compliance processes, tools and governance frameworks
  • Define KPIs / metrics for brand-compliance performance (e.g., % of materials approved, number of violations, time to remediate)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Law or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in brand management, marketing operations, compliance, licensing or a related field (adjust based on seniority)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing brand guidelines, marketing/agency collaborations, and/or regulatory/compliance oversight

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of brand strategy, marketing operations and asset management
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot non-compliance in brand usage (visual, verbal, legal)
  • Good working knowledge of compliance/risk frameworks, brand governance and audit processes
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills: ability to train, influence, and collaborate across internal teams and external partners
  • Analytical mindset: able to define metrics, analyse usage data, identify trends and drive improvements
  • Ability to prioritise, manage multiple projects concurrently and drive change in a dynamic environment
  • High integrity and professional ethics: brand compliance often involves saying "no" or flagging risky materials

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in international/regional brand compliance (multi-market, multi-channel)
  • Familiarity with licensing/co-branding processes and legal/regulatory frameworks relevant to advertising, trademark, marketing claims
  • Experience with digital asset management tools, brand portals and audit/compliance software
  • Certification in compliance / risk management (optional but beneficial)
