The Library Assistant provides support in the daily operations of the library, ensuring efficient and effective library services. This role involves assisting patrons, organizing and maintaining materials, and supporting librarians in administrative and clerical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist students in locating, borrowing, and returning library materials.
  • Organize, catalog, and shelve books, periodicals, and other materials.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the library space.
  • Assist with circulation processes, including issuing library cards and managing overdue materials.
  • Provide basic information and reference services or direct patrons to appropriate staff.
  • Help prepare materials and spaces for library programs and activities.
  • Support librarians in administrative tasks such as data entry, inventory, and reporting.
  • Operate and maintain library equipment (computers, scanners, photocopiers, etc.).
  • Assist in enforcing library rules and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
