Azure Data Engineer (Remote)

Location: Remote (Can be anywhere in the Philippines BUT Orientation will be onsite Ortigas Center, Pasig)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Data Engineer to join a dynamic team focused on delivering cutting-edge data solutions. This remote role involves designing, implementing, and managing cloud-based data pipelines and infrastructure using Microsoft Azure. You'll work on impactful projects that drive digital transformation and operational efficiency across various domains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and ADLS Gen2.
  • Develop ETL workflows and orchestration processes for efficient data movement.
  • Configure compute resources in Azure Databricks (All-Purpose, SQL, Job Clusters).
  • Manage secure access using Azure Key Vaults and Service Principals.
  • Implement data warehousing and governance solutions.
  • Automate ETL scripts and optimize infrastructure for performance and cost.
  • Conduct data profiling and handle diverse formats (CSV, JSON).
  • Troubleshoot data quality issues and system bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Apply CI/CD practices for pipeline deployment and testing.
  • Document best practices and reusable templates for future use.

Must-Have Skills

  • 2+ years in Data Engineering
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, PySpark
  • Experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, ADLS Gen2, Key Vaults, Azure DevOps
  • Solid understanding of ETL, data modeling, data warehousing, and governance
  • Familiarity with Agile practices and SDLC
  • Ability to write clean, organized PySpark code
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Good to Have

  • Experience with Event Hubs, Logic Apps
  • Knowledge of Power BI
  • Competitive coding skills and deep familiarity with PySpark syntax
  • Exposure to Docker/containerization

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in Azure Cloud Data Engineering
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
