What you'll be doing

Strategy and Volume Development

  • Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team with clear ownership, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maximize profitability through cost-effective procurement strategies and adherence to regional policies that enable global incentive opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the Commercial Head to align product and sales strategies via pipeline reviews, customer feedback, and tender support.
  • Support sales teams with customer visits and solution design to enhance win rates.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis on rates, space/equipment availability, and port conditions to guide commercial strategies.
  • Analyze monthly volume trends and define trade lane development strategies in collaboration with Sales.
  • Implement and localize regional product strategies, including core carrier and co-loader policies.

Vendor Relationship Development

  • Build and nurture strong relationships with key vendors, including core carriers, co-loaders, and preferred partners.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and maintain a structured contact matrix for vendors at all tiers.
  • Monitor vendor performance, manage escalations effectively, and resolve critical service or relationship issues.
  • Ensure continuity of service delivery to avoid operational or client disruptions.

FCL Tariff, Rates, and Contract Management

  • Negotiate competitive rates and contracts with vendors, particularly for tenders and high-volume accounts.
  • Maintain up-to-date, validated tariff structures accessible to pricing and network support teams.
  • Ensure all contractual documents (SLAs, Credit Terms, NDAs, etc.) are complete and in place prior to business engagement.

Product Development, Branding, and Training

  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop sales-supporting materials such as brochures, flyers, and presentations that enhance brand visibility and sales competitiveness.
  • Design and deliver user-friendly product training in partnership with Commercial teams to strengthen sales and operations teams' understanding of Rhenus products and systems.

What skills & experience you'll bring to us

  • 10+ years' experience in freight forwarding, with solid expertise in ocean freight operations or procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of ocean freight market dynamics and cost drivers.
  • Proven leadership experience (5+ years), including team development, coaching, and performance management.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on cost-efficiency, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
  • Customer-oriented with the ability to anticipate needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator, fluent in English, and comfortable in multicultural settings.
  • High ownership, proactive attitude, and ability to work independently.
  • Able to manage pressure, prioritize tasks, and operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Change-agile and adaptable in shifting business contexts.
  • Results-driven and committed to achieving goals.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
