Key Responsibilities:

  1. Environmental Compliance & Permitting:

o Ensure strict adherence to all Philippine environmental laws and regulations, including but not limited to RA 9275 (Clean Water Act), RA 8749 (Clean Air Act), RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act), RA 6969 (Toxic Substances and Hazardous and Nuclear Wastes Control Act), PD 1586 (Environmental Impact Statement System), and relevant DENR Administrative Orders (DAOs), PEZA/EPZA environmental policies, and LGU ordinances.

o Manage and oversee the application, renewal, and compliance requirements for all necessary environmental permits and clearances (e.g., ECC, Discharge Permit, Permit to Operate, Hazardous Waste Generator ID, PCO Accreditation, etc.).

o Prepare and submit accurate, complete, and timely environmental reports to DENR, PEZA/EPZA, and other relevant regulatory bodies (e.g., Self-Monitoring Report (SMR), Compliance Monitoring Report (CMR), Hazardous Waste Annual Report, Pollution Control Program, Environmental Performance Report).

  1. Environmental Monitoring & Management:

o Oversee the regular monitoring of environmental parameters (e.g., wastewater discharge quality, air emissions, noise levels) and ensure adherence to effluent and emission standards.

o Implement and maintain an effective Environmental Management System (EMS), potentially aligned with ISO 14001 standards, if applicable to the company.

o Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive waste management programs for solid, liquid, and hazardous wastes, emphasizing waste minimization, segregation, recycling, reuse, and proper disposal.

o Identify potential environmental risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and corrective actions.

  1. Pollution Prevention & Control:

o Recommend and implement pollution prevention and control technologies and practices to reduce environmental footprint.

o Conduct regular environmental inspections and audits to identify non-compliance issues and areas for improvement.

o Develop and implement an Environmental Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for potential environmental incidents (e.g., spills, leaks) and conduct drills.

  1. Training & Awareness:

o Conduct environmental awareness and training programs for employees at all levels to foster a culture of environmental responsibility and ensure understanding of environmental policies and procedures.

o Maintain records of environmental training and awareness activities.

  1. Liaison & Reporting:

o Act as the primary liaison between the company and environmental regulatory agencies (DENR, EMB, PEZA/EPZA, LGU environmental offices).

o Effectively communicate environmental performance, issues, and initiatives to management and relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

· Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or any other allied engineering or natural science course.

· Accreditation: Must be a duly accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO) by the DENR-EMB, with a valid accreditation certificate.

· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in environmental management, preferably within a manufacturing environment or an Export Processing Zone company.

· Knowledge:

o In-depth knowledge of Philippine environmental laws, regulations, and DENR administrative orders.

o Familiarity with PEZA/EPZA environmental regulations and requirements.

o Understanding of environmental management systems (e.g., ISO

o Proficiency in waste management principles, pollution prevention techniques, and environmental monitoring methodologies.

· Skills:

o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing, presentations, and regulatory interactions.

o Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

o Keen attention to detail and accuracy in data management and reporting.
