Pollution Control Officer (DLPF)

Job Summary:

As our Pollution Control Officer (PCO), you will be the cornerstone of our environmental compliance. You'll ensure our company strictly adheres to all local and national environmental laws, regulations, and permits relevant to our operations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental management programs, promoting sustainable practices, pollution prevention, and efficient resource utilization to minimize our environmental impact and maintain all necessary licenses and accreditations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Environmental Compliance & Permitting: Ensure strict adherence to Philippine environmental laws (e.g., Clean Water, Clean Air, Solid Waste, Toxic Substances Acts), PEZA/EPZA policies, and LGU ordinances. Manage all environmental permits (ECC, Discharge, Permit to Operate, Hazardous Waste ID, PCO Accreditation) and submit accurate, timely reports to DENR, PEZA/EPZA, and other agencies.
  • Environmental Monitoring & Management: Oversee regular monitoring of environmental parameters (wastewater, air emissions, noise) and maintain an effective Environmental Management System (EMS), potentially aligned with ISO Develop and manage waste programs emphasizing minimization, segregation, recycling, and proper disposal. Identify and mitigate environmental risks.
  • Pollution Prevention & Control: Recommend and implement strategies to reduce our environmental footprint. Conduct regular inspections, identify non-compliance, and develop Environmental Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
  • Training & Awareness: Lead environmental training programs for all employees to foster a culture of responsibility and ensure understanding of policies.
  • Liaison & Reporting: Act as the primary contact with environmental regulatory agencies and effectively communicate environmental performance to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or an allied engineering/natural science course.
  • Accreditation: Must be a duly accredited Pollution Control Officer (PCO) by DENR-EMB, with a valid accreditation certificate.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in environmental management, preferably within a manufacturing environment or an Export Processing Zone company.
  • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Philippine environmental laws (RA 9275, RA 8749, RA 9003, RA 6969, PD 1586), PEZA/EPZA regulations, EMS (ISO 14001), waste management, pollution prevention, and environmental monitoring.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving, excellent written and verbal communication, ability to work independently and collaboratively, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, keen attention to detail.
