A Network Engineer I is an entry-level position that supports the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems and devices. These may include routers, switches, firewalls, servers, wireless access points, and other components that enable data communication and security. It is also expected that he / she possesses understanding of business-leading technologies and has the eagerness to enhance their knowledge by working directly below senior engineers. He / She should have a strong work ethic, confidence, and solid communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily hands-on interaction with network and systems implementation, installation, configuration and commissioning of network devices and components.
  • Provide first-level troubleshooting for network issues such as connectivity problems, device malfunctions, and basic configuration issues.
  • Maintaining current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to company systems.
  • To fulfill and maintain detailed documentation of network / firewall configurations, diagrams, policies, and changes.
  • Fulfill certification and training roadmap as set forth by senior staff and management.
  • To work with other IT teams, such as security, systems, and support, to ensure seamless integration and support.
  • Can adapt in working outside of standard business hours as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering or any related field.
  • 1-2 years of hands-on experience in network, IT, or a related field.
  • Has an experience in both internal and client-facing technical work.
  • Strong foundation in basic network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
  • Basic skills in routing protocols (i.e. BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
  • Equipped in switching concepts (i.e. VLANs, Spanning Tree), and network device configurations.
  • Basic knowledge in Firewall configuration, VPNs, SD-WAN, and security protocols (knowledgeable in Palo Alto, Checkpoint is a plus)
  • Familiarity in handling network tools (i.e. Solarwinds, PRTG, Wireshark, FortiSIEM, Meraki Dashboard, Datadog
  • With certifications like CCNA, Fortinet Certification, HCNA, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
