Overview:

The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines that ensure the smooth flow of information across teams. This role supports various functions by providing access to accurate, well-structured datasets for reporting, analytics, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for data collection and integration from multiple sources.
  • Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data across databases and reporting systems.
  • Collaborate with Consumer Insights and Cross-functional Teams to translate data requirements into efficient technical solutions.
  • Implement data governance, quality checks, and validation procedures.
  • Manage data infrastructure and support database performance optimization.
  • Maintain and manage data pipelines hosted on cloud platforms and data warehouses like Redshift.

Specific Tasks:

  • Extract raw data from systems or third-party platforms (e.g., internal CMS, audience measurement systems, APIs).
  • Clean, standardize, and merge datasets to create unified views for analysis and visualization.
  • Automate recurring data extraction and report-generation tasks.
  • Develop and maintain scripts for data transformation using SQL, Python, or similar tools.
  • Support analytics and reporting teams by providing ready-to-use datasets for visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Work with data sources that include program schedules, audience metrics, and performance dashboards.
  • Support cross-functional teams (Marketing, Strategy, Operations, etc.) with custom data requests.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines integrating data from multiple sources, including content/viewership systems, digital analytics (Google Analytics), social media, and subscription/payment platforms.
  • Ensure data consistency and accuracy across these sources for use in visualization and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Excel).
  • Collaborate with teams handling payment and subscription data to standardize revenue and transaction reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Python or R.
  • Experience with database systems
  • Solid understanding of ETL processes and data integration from multiple systems (content, digital, and subscription data).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Good English communication skills and ability to communicate complex data processes in clear, simple terms for non-technical users.
