JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Performs evaluation procedures on patient such as history taking, physical examinations, range of motion measurement, manual muscle testing, functional muscle testing and neurological examination including sensory / reflex / cranial testing and tests for coordination.
  • Conducts initial identification of problems and secondary complications with respect to particular patient condition and assists in formulating treatment plan and short- and long-term goals relative to the plan based on previous history and patient feedback before patients are seen by the physiatrist.
  • Conducts evaluation and testing of patients to establish their entitlement to social security disability benefits; prepares results and corresponding certifications.
  • Performs treatment procedures using different modalities e.g. hot moist pack, ultrasound treatment etc.
  • Facilitates therapeutic exercises such as proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, sensory integration, neuro-developmental training, transfer techniques, mat exercises, gait training, strengthening exercises, balance and coordination exercises.
  • Maintains and updates individual records and status on therapy provided to patients and communicates these with the physicians, nurses, staff, and referral sources; makes discharge notes and records progress of patients on a timely basis.
  • Takes custodianship of physical therapy equipment, supplies, and materials; arranges for the requisition of depleted supplies and materials; assists in the conduct of regular inventory.
  • Prepares weekly planner on activities to be undertaken and prepares reports on actual results, outputs and accomplishments based on plans at the end of the week; consolidates accomplishment reports into monthly performance reports.
  • Undertakes work activities in conformity with the institutional guidelines on safety and infection control.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Must have passed government licensure examination and possess valid license to practice position.
  • Computer literate and capable of applying Microsoft office programs.
