
Finance & Accounting Officer

The Finance & Accounting Officer is a senior-level professional responsible for leading the company's financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. This position plays a vital role in supporting the organization's financial health by ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role also oversees the integrity of project-related financial activities, procurement cost tracking, and timely processing of accounts payable and receivables.
Key Responsibilities1. Financial Management & Reporting
- Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the general ledger, trial balance, and journal entries.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to aid decision-making by management and project leads.
- Monitor financial KPIs and budget adherence across departments and projects.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Cost Control
- Prepare annual operating budgets in coordination with department heads and project managers.
- Monitor project-specific budgets versus actual expenditures and highlight variances.
- Implement cost control strategies to optimize spending and improve margin performance.
3. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Supervise AP/AR functions, ensuring timely billing, collections, and supplier payments.
- Review and approve payment vouchers, check disbursements, and aging schedules.
- Ensure accuracy in supplier invoice matching with purchase orders and delivery receipts.
4. Taxation & Compliance
- Oversee tax planning, preparation, and filing in compliance with BIR and other government regulations.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring readiness and documentation completeness.
- Ensure compliance with statutory reporting, company policies, and local accounting standards.
5. Team Leadership & Process Development
- Manage and mentor a team of accountants, bookkeepers, and finance officers.
- Develop and improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls.
- Provide training and oversight to improve accuracy, efficiency, and financial discipline across the finance team.
6. Collaboration with Operations and Procurement
- Coordinate with Procurement and Engineering teams to ensure financial validation of BOQ, material costs, and contract terms.
- Track project cash flows and profitability reports in alignment with engineering schedules and site milestones.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy or Finance (required)
- CPA designation (preferred or strongly recommended)
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management, including 2 years in a managerial capacity.
- Industry experience in construction, engineering, or real estate development is a strong advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong knowledge of Philippine Tax Laws, BIR compliance, and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with project-based accounting, job costing, and BOQ financial evaluation.
