Head of Risk

Ensures that actions are in alignment to its Risk Appetite Statements and that the overall risk undertaken by the company is within its Risk Appetite and Risk Tolerance. Drives the development of frameworks and policies that will embed strong, effective and adaptive risk management practices within the organization's functional units, in view of the organization's overall strategic objectives and foreseen internal and external challenges and opportunities

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Leadership
– Continuously develops and implements ERM Framework, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, Risk Appetite, and Risk Tolerance across all functional units.

Policy, Governance & Compliance
– Establishes risk management frameworks, policies, and procedures; ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., ORSA, RBC2, UPR, Claims Liability Reserves) and provides second-line oversight on financial and non-financial risks including technology, cyber, outsourcing, and fraud.

Business Continuity & Crisis Management
– Leads the Business Continuity Program as Recovery Director, ensuring strong alignment with standards, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Business Continuity Plan (BCP), and incident escalation.

Financial & Investment Risk Oversight
– Develops financial KRIs, conducts stress and sensitivity tests, monitors solvency, liquidity, credit/counterparty risks, and provides input on ALM, Investment, and Reinsurance Policies.

Operational & Emerging Risk Management
– Oversees identification, assessment, and mitigation of strategic, operational, regulatory, and emerging risks; ensures efficiency of internal controls and adaptive operational risk practices.

Fraud & Product Risk Management
– Serves as Fraud Risk Officer embedding anti-fraud controls and investigations; ensures product development initiatives and reinsurance programs stay within the company's Risk Appetite and safeguard earnings at risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or master's degree in a Quantitative Field or Business Member of the Philippine Bar
  • Operational and/or Financial roles within the insurance industry, with focus on Risk
  • Management or related functions (Actuarial, Finance, Underwriting, Strategy, Business Development)
  • Experience in litigation
  • Updated Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) seminar.
  • Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and risk management practices in general insurance.
