We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Medical Administrative Assistant to support a Neurosurgery practice. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, strong medical administrative experience, and the ability to think several steps ahead. The ideal candidate will handle complex tasks such as prior authorizations, patient scheduling, and insurance verification with accuracy, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage patient scheduling, follow-ups, and appointment coordination with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Perform insurance verification and ensure eligibility prior to visits, procedures, and imaging.
  • Handle prior authorizations for medications, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Support the front desk workflow including patient communication, intake coordination, and records management.
  • Collaborate with billing and clinical teams to ensure seamless administrative and patient flow.
  • Request and manage medical records and itemized bills as needed for clinical or legal use.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and practice policies at all times.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and third-party payers.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in Neurosurgery, plastic surgery, orthopedic spine or a related medical specialty is required.
  • Proven experience in prior authorizations, insurance verification, patient scheduling, including collection of copays from patients. The client is out of network with everyone.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical workflows.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented — able to anticipate needs several steps ahead.
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience in front desk, billing, and administrative operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
