Position Summary

The Medical Researcher and Report Writer is responsible for reviewing medical records, conducting targeted medical research, and drafting clear, accurate, and well organized medical reports. This role supports physicians in clinical and medico-legal work by converting complex clinical information and medical literature into understandable written reports and summaries.

Key Responsibilities

A. Medical Records Review and Case Analysis

  • Review and summarize medical records, diagnostic tests, imaging reports, operative reports, and treatment notes.
  • Extract key clinical facts, timelines, and diagnoses from large volumes of documents.
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, and points that need clarification from the provider or patient.
  • Prepare concise case summaries and chronologies for physician review.

B. Medical Research

  • Perform literature searches using credible medical sources (PubMed, clinical guidelines, specialty society guidelines and textbooks).
  • Identify current standards of care, diagnostic criteria, and evidence based treatment options relevant to each case.
  • Summarize research findings in clear language that supports the medical opinion in the report.
  • Keep updated on commonly referenced conditions and guidelines relevant to occupational medicine, orthopedics, pain, neurology, and internal medicine (as applicable to the practice).

C. Report Drafting and Writing

  • Draft high quality medical reports based on physician findings, exam notes, and medical records.
  • Organize reports logically, including history, review of records, examination findings, diagnoses, apportionment, work restrictions, and conclusions, as required.
  • Ensure that the tone, structure, and content follow clinic or firm templates and legal requirements (for example QME, AME, SIBTF, or similar formats if applicable).
  • Edit and revise reports based on physician feedback and new information.

D. Quality Control and Documentation

  • Verify accuracy of dates, names, diagnoses, medications, and procedures in all written outputs.
  • Check internal consistency within reports and across multiple documents for the same patient.
  • Maintain organized digital files, version control, and naming conventions for all reports and research materials.
  • Follow confidentiality rules and HIPAA or equivalent privacy standards at all times.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a health related field (Nursing, Physical Therapy, Biology, Public Health, Pre-Med or similar) required.
  • Advanced degree (MD, RN, PA, NP, PT, MPH or similar) is an advantage but not required if experience is strong.

Experience

  • Prior experience in medical writing, medical research, utilization review, case management, or medico-legal reporting is preferred.
  • Experience reading and interpreting imaging reports, operative notes, specialist consults, and laboratory data.
  • Familiarity with occupational medicine, orthopedics, neurology, pain management, or internal medicine is a plus.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong ability to read and interpret medical terminology and abbreviations.
  • Excellent written English and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to summarize complex clinical information accurately and concisely.
  • Strong research skills with the ability to identify credible medical sources.
  • Good time management and ability to handle multiple cases with deadlines.
  • High level of organization with careful document tracking and version control.
  • Comfort working with templates, checklists, and structured report formats.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and basic document management tools.

Work Schedule and Arrangement

  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, full time (8 hours/day).
  • Work setting: Fully remote job.
  • May be required to prioritize urgent cases or rush reports based on physician and client needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php40, Php45,000.00 per month
