The BDM leads the full innovation lifecycle for new product launches, translating consumer and customer needs into commercially successful products. This role drives cross-functional alignment, manages category growth opportunities, and ensures timely, profitable, and trend-relevant product introductions across the beauty and personal care portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

1. Market & Consumer Insight Leadership


• Identify whitespace and category opportunities through research and data


• Analyze competitor landscape and pricing tiers


• Partner with Sales & Trade Marketing to understand retailer requirements and shopper trends

2. Innovation Pipeline Management


• Lead annual NPD pipeline creation aligned with brand strategy and category growth goals


• Own the innovation roadmap and lead product gate approvals


• Define clear product concepts, benefits, and competitive value propositions

3. Supplier Sourcing & Product Development Oversight


• Work with external manufacturers to develop new SKUs


• Evaluate product samples against concept, cost, and brand standards


• Lead packaging development, ensuring functionality, creativity, cost efficiency, and sustainability


• Approve final BOM and product specifications

4. Cross-Functional Innovation Project Management


• Manage end-to-end NPD timeline through launch:

Regulatory
• Supply Chain
• QC
• Finance
• Marketing
• Sales


• Ensure the NPD portfolio delivers required margins and operational feasibility


• Champion risk mitigation and speed-to-market improvement

5. Retail & Channel Launch Alignment


• Support Sales with listing submissions, category reviews, trade presentations


• Provide Marketing with product messaging and claims for campaigns, BA training, and PR


• Align forecasting and launch phasing with Demand Planning & Supply Chain

6. Post-Launch Performance Analytics


• Track sell-in, sell-out, profitability, and consumer feedback


• Recommend upgrades, reformulation, cost savings, or SKU rationalization
